THE MACARONUT!
As I scrolled through my Facebook newsfeed the usual token selfie or cat picture popped up but then I saw something which caught my eye....The Macaronut! Part Donut, Part Macaron.
Was this real? How? When? Why? and most importantly Where??
I clicked on the article and found out.
Long Story Short, it was being being made in a cafe called Long Story Short.
A pop up event for this cafe's grand opening at a new location in Port Melbourne.
When we first arrived we saw the lineup from quite a distance.
This was going to be another agonizing wait to get our hands on the newest hybrid snack.
But we finally made it in and ordered a Chocolate and Salted Caramel Macaronut as well as a Matcha and Coconut one.
So the verdict...
The flavour of both were delicious. Smooth, soft and sweet. But not too sweet which i liked.
HOWEVER! (insert suspense sound effect here)
While the Macaron part of this hybrid was clearly present, the Donut part of this food experiment was clearly lost somewhere in between the couch seat cushions of Homer Simpsons house.
In it's place was what can only be described as a muffin base. Looked like the base of a muffin and tasted like a chocolate muffin. Perhaps a "Macaruffin" would be a more suitable name or a "Muffaron."
Overall a fun pleasant taste test which satisfied our mid afternoon craving for sugar.
I'm only left now to ponder what is next in this hybrid game of food?
I'm craving a croissant hotdog. Now to search the interent high and low to find this creation!
Until next time,
Nic
